Graeme has won more magic awards than any other North East magician.
No not his 50m swimming badge……….. Actual awards from competing against other magicians!
Many magicians claim to be “Award Winning”. However, you would never know what they have been awarded as they don’t tell you. This is for a number of reasons. It may be that they have not actually won or been awarded anything. Anyone can claim to be “Award Winning”. The awards they have are either nothing to really do with their performance or, are so insignificant that they do not really want anyone to know. Pretty much ALL of Graeme’s awards below are for COMPETING against other magicians in various different categories of magic
Most Recently Won Magic Awards
In early 2020 Graeme Shaw was awarded the UK Family Entertainer Of The Year 2020. After competing through regional heats, he got through to the final which was held in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens. On Europe’s largest stage, in front 3,500 magicians and the general public, Graeme was awarded the title. The competition is held once a year.
Probably the Best Award to win for a Children’s Magician in the North East

Lennox Shield For Close Up Magic
One of Graemes magic awards is named after Maurice Lennox. A founder member of The Newcastle Magic Circle and past president. Its awarded to the best close up magician in the competition held once a year. Graeme has won this seven times including three times in a row and more times than any one else since the award began in 1933.

Edmund Younger Cup For Stage Magic
This competition is in honour of past member Edmund Younger, for the best stage magic performance and takes place once a year. Graeme has performed everything from large scale illusions to smaller “parlour” type routines winning the competition six times, including a joint win when he was part of a double act with Michael Murray.

Bob White Wand
The Bob White Wand trophy was presented to the Newcastle Magic Circle by the fore mentioned Bob White and takes place once a year. It is awarded to the Best Magician on the night after performing one effect in each of the given four categories.

Martin Duffy Children’s Magician Of The Year
Martin Duffy was considered by many as one of the best children’s entertainers in the North East. Graeme made history by becoming the first person to ever win the prize in 2012. The competition is held once a year.

Scottish Heat – Family Entertainer Of The Year
Heats are held all over the UK for performers to attempt to reach the final of the UK Family Entertainer Of The Year Competition. The winner of each heat then competes at the final in Blackpool. Graeme entered the Scottish heat and won, thus becoming Scottish family entertainer of the year in 2019.

UK – Family Entertainer Of The Year
Winners from competition heats form all over the UK are pitted against one another in the final held at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens Opera House. Europe’s largest stage. Held during the worlds largest magic convention with almost 5,000 magicians in attendance.

Inter Magic Society North Of England Magic Award
Held once a year, a magician from each local magic circle is put forward to compete in the competition. The magic clubs taking part in 2009 were The Newcastle Magic Circle, Middlesborough Circle Of Magicians, The Darlington Magic Circle, Durham Magic Circle and The Northern Magic Circle.
